## Exact numbers, not 10.2K

Instagram rounds big counts on a profile. 10.2K can stand for any of about 100 numbers, and 1.2M for any of about 100,000. The exact count lets you see small moves. Say an account had 10,248 followers yesterday and has 10,241 today: it's down 7, while the rounded 10.2K never moved. When we tested on November 7, 2026, @natgeo had 268,193,129 followers, to the last digit. Your last look at each account stays in this browser, so the next check can show the change.

## What it shows

- Followers, following and posts, to the last digit.
- The follower ratio: followers for every account it follows, to one decimal.
- The change since your last look, like +34 since 3 days ago.
- Whether the account is private. Its counts are public anyway.

## What it can't show

- Who followed or who unfollowed. A count moves without names.
- Past counts or a growth chart. We keep no history on our side.
- Fake or inactive followers. A number can't tell them apart.

### How do I see the exact follower count on Instagram?

Type the username at the top of this page and tap Check the count. You see the full number, like 10,248 instead of 10.2K, plus following and posts. It takes a few seconds, needs no login, and works for your own account or anyone else's.

### Is this a live follower count?

It's Instagram's count at the moment you tap, not a counter that ticks up by itself. Check again later for a new number. If the same account was checked in the last 10 minutes, you get that reading, and the result says how many minutes old it is.

### Why is the count different from what I see in the app?

Instagram shortens big counts on a profile, so 10.2K covers about 100 different numbers. We show the number Instagram reports, to the last digit. The count can also change between two looks, as people follow and unfollow.

### Can I check the follower count of a private account?

Yes. Instagram shows the follower, following and post counts of a private account to everyone, so we show them too. Who those followers are stays private.

### Can I see who unfollowed an account?

### What does the follower ratio mean?

It's followers divided by following, to one decimal. An account with 1,200 followers that follows 400 accounts has a ratio of 3.0: three followers for every account it follows. It describes the account. There's no official good or bad number.
